New UNF President Remembers Fondly Philosophy Classes!

Welcome from the Dean

Dean Kaveri Subrahmanyam

Dear Osprey Community,

As we come to the close of the academic year and look ahead to summer, I want to share a few moments from the semester that reflect the heart and soul of the College of Arts and Sciences.

Earlier this month, we were pleased to welcome Interim President Angela Garcia Falconetti to a meeting with college faculty and staff. Her reflections on her time as a student at UNF and Dr. Fenner’s philosophy class were a powerful reminder of the lasting impact our faculty have on students.

I am also excited to share the launch of the COAS Interdisciplinary Colloquium Series, where faculty from different fields explore complex ideas from multiple perspectives — reflecting the reality that many of today’s most important questions and discoveries are shaped at the intersections of disciplines.

Thank you to everyone who supported Giving Day through sharing, participation or giving. These collective efforts directly support our students and programs.

Finally, as we look ahead to commencement, I am filled with pride in our graduates. This year, Julian Hooks will graduate with his Bachelor of Fine Arts in art, along with his mother, Janelle Hooks, who will earn her Master of Social Work on the same day. Their shared milestone shows the nest at its best: a place of belonging, purpose and connection for all Ospreys.

With much gratitude,

Kaveri Subrahmanyam
Dean, College of Arts and Sciences
Professor of Psychology
